Colorado Certified Nursery Professionals
The Colorado Certified Nursery Professional (CCNP) program was developed by the Colorado Nursery Association in conjunction with Colorado State University to promote a high standard of quality and professionalism for the people involved in the nursery industry in Colorado. The program's goal is to promote sound horticultural and business practices. Therefore, educational efforts and the certification test include a heavy emphasis on plant identification of nursery stock and materials that perform well in Colorado
Becoming a CCNP is not easy. An individual must work at least 2,000 hours in the Colorado nursery industry and pass a rigorous exam, administered by CNA, on plant identification, landscape design and sound practical knowledge of horticultural and business practices. In addition, CCNP's must re-certify every three years by showing evidence of continued education and experience in the industry.
A CCNP is horticultural expert who can help you make wise decisions for your personal and business landscaping projects. Consumers receive the greatest benefit by knowing and having confidence in the information and the advice given by a CCNP
Employers, such as nursery and garden centers, can be assured that a CCNP is knowledgeable and dedicated to the industry, has taken the time and effort to excel, and is maintaining "cutting edge" information of the industry as it changes.
Above all, the CCNP recipient receives recognition as a professional.
